What is ocean art?
Ocean resin art refers to a specific style of resin artwork that captures the essence and aesthetics of the ocean. It involves using epoxy resin as the primary medium to create stunning pieces inspired by the sea, its colors, textures, and various elements.
At Open Ocean Art we use techniques such as layering, pouring, and manipulating the resin to create the appearance of water, waves, seascapes, or marine life. TWe often incorporate pigments, paints, crushed shells, sand, and other materials that are reminiscent of the ocean's beauty and characteristics.
The process typically begins by preparing the surface, we typically use wooden products. We then pour layers of resin onto the surface and add various colors and materials, using tools like brushes, palette knives, or heat guns to create desired effects. These techniques allow for the creation of depth, movement, and the illusion of water or underwater scenes.
Once the resin is poured and manipulated, it needs time to cure and harden. During this process, the resin undergoes a chemical reaction, becoming solid and creating a glossy and durable finish. The resulting artwork is a captivating representation of the ocean's allure and can take the form of wall art, sculptures, jewelry, or functional objects like coasters or tabletops.
The unique properties of resin, such as its translucency and high-gloss finish, lend themselves well to capturing the mesmerizing qualities of water and the coast. Each piece of ocean resin art is unique and can convey a range of emotions and interpretations related to the vastness and serenity of the sea.
